Are OT Curses of God - Are NT Curses Credible

There are curses within the Old and New Testaments, and there is one Rabbinic Curse I’m aware of that addresses prophecy in a Book of the Old Testament. I will address each in this article, and I want to mention that there may be curses within the Old and New Testaments, other than those I have identified.

Before continuing, these are the biblical resources I will be utilizing when discussing the curses, and their validity: the Gospel of the Holy Twelve, recorded by Apostle John while incarcerated; and it is authenticated by doctrine preached by Apostle Peter, which is contained in The Clementine Homilies. Clement of Rome, personally trained, and appointed a Church Father by Apostle Peter, wrote The Clementine Homilies.

The first of the curses is in:

Exodus 20:5 KJV
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them [idols], nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me

The Lord told us in this Verse that those who worshiped idols, would not be the only ones to have penance to pay; He made it clear that their children would also have penance to pay, and that would include all offspring of all children, all the way through the fourth generation. Yes, the Lord did make it clear in many Old Testament Books: souls are to worship Him and not idols.

However, Jesus made it clear through His teachings that God is not jealous, and His lessons also made it clear that any penance suffered, would be borne by the offending soul alone, and not by the soul’s children, nor the ensuing generations. These Verses also crystallize the fact that Exodus 20:5 is a manmade law, and not of God.

Examples of Jesus’ teachings:

Lection 76:5
A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another and all the creatures of God. Love is the fulfilling of the law. Love is of God, and God is love. Whoso loveth not, knoweth not God.

Verse 5 makes it emphatically clear God is not jealous of His children and creations, He “LOVES” them.

Lection 94:3-4
3. There is a resurrection from the body, and there is a resurrection in the body. There is a raising out of the life of the flesh, and there is a falling into the life of the flesh. Let prayer be made For those who are gone before, and For those that are alive, and For those that are yet to come, for all are One family in God. In God they live and move and have their being.
4. The body that ye lay in the grave, or that is consumed by fire, is not the body that shall be, but they who come shall receive other bodies, yet their own, and as they have sown in one life, so shall they reap in another. Blessed are they who have worked righteousness in this life, for they shall receive the crown of life.

This section of Verse 4 above, “they who come shall receive other bodies, yet their own, and as they have sown in one life, so shall they reap in another,” crystallizes the fact that punishment will be meted out only to the sole who transgressed God’s Laws.

The next curse is in:

Deuteronomy 23:2
A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

The Lord told us in this Verse that a child conceived out of wedlock shall not enter into the House of the Lord, His Church, nor shall any other if its children, all the way up to the tenth generation, even though not one soul in the ensuing generations had been a bastard. To me, that is a very drastic curse, and I’m sure it was meant to have significant impact on the minds of those who would entertain the idea of sex out of wedlock; however, based upon Jesus’ teachings that I mentioned in Lection 94:3-4 above, Deuteronomy 23:2 is also a manmade law, and not a Law of God.

The next Old Testament curse I’m aware of is within:

Deuteronomy 28:15
But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

The Lord told us in this Verse that those who do not obey His Commandments shall suffer curses, and those curses are listed in Verses 16 through 44, with the final statement being made in:

Verse 45
Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:

Once again, Jesus’ teachings throughout the Gospel of the Holy Twelve, crystallize the fact that God does not place a curse on souls, but instead imposes a penance a soul must pay. Jesus gave us this lesson in Lection 67: 11 & 15: depending upon the severity of the transgressions, a soul could spend time in Hades to be purified. It’s important to note that I stated, “spend time in Hades,” for Jesus did not preach disobedient souls would spend all of eternity in Hell. However, He did preach that souls who refuse to mend their ways to those of God, will eventually be “utterly destroyed.”

Lection 67: 11 & 15
11. Then shall he say also unto them on his left hand, Depart from me ye evil souls into the eternal fires which ye have prepared for yourselves, till ye are purified seven times and cleansed from your sins.
15. And the cruel and the loveless shall go away into chastisement for ages, and if they repent not, be utterly destroyed; but the righteous and the merciful, shall go into life and peace everlasting.

Next I will address New Testament curses, and there are a couple that come to mind, with the first being in:

Galatians 1:8-9 KJV

8. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

I find it interesting Paul had the gumption to issue such a curse, and I will share with you why: Jesus and His Apostles preached doctrine that contradicted certain longstanding and revered Hebrew Laws that had their beginnings in Genesis and Exodus, and that statement is supported by Old Testament prophecies Jesus fulfilled during His Messianic Ministry. However, the doctrine Jesus preached which is contradictory to Hebrew Laws of the Old Testament, is not found within the New Testament. Instead, one finds the doctrine Paul preached, which reinstituted those Hebrew Laws Jesus and His Apostles preached against. Think about this: Paul preached a Gospel that had not been of Jesus, and thus being, could not have been of God; could it be, since he did such, the curse he gave in Galatians 1:8-9, backfired?

Next I want to address:

Revelation 22:19
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

It has been written that certain Christians declare Revelation 22:19, to be a curse upon anyone who preaches apocrypha. Apocrypha is a term that’s typically applied to certain historical religious books, which the Christian Church viewed as being useful, but they were books that had not been deemed to be Divine. The aforementioned books are the Gospels of the Nag Hammadi and the Dead Sea Scrolls, and some writings also include the Gospel of the Holy Twelve as being part of apocrypha.

I have studied the Gospels of the Nag Hammadi, and some of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and I do not recall any curses or warnings within them, but there is a curse within the Gospel of the Holy Twelve that I want to bring to your attention:

Lection 96:26
And if any man take from, or add, to the words of this Gospel, or hide, as under a bushel, the light thereof, which is given by the Spirit through us, the twelve witnesses chosen of God, for the enlightenment of the world unto salvation: Let him be Anathema Maranatha, until the coming of Christ Jesu-Maria, our Saviour, with all the Holy Saints.

Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913), defines Anathema Maranatha as being a ban or curse, pronounced with religious solemnity by ecclesiastical authority, and accompanied by excommunication.

While keeping in mind the opinion of certain Christians regarding, Revelation 22:19, let’s take a look at, the “Rabbinic Curse,” which is immediately below, regarding the Daniel 9:24-27 prophecies:

“May the bones of the hands and the bones of the fingers decay and decompose, of him who turns the pages of the book of Daniel, to find out the time of Daniel 9:24-27, and may his memory rot from off the face of the earth forever” (Talmudic Law, page 978, Section 2, Line 28)

It’s obvious that whoever was responsible for creating that curse, wanted to make it clear the Jewish Hierarchy did not want their followers to know results that would be obtained through the calculation of those numerical Prophecies. I have made those calculations, and I know the clear message the results convey, and I totally understand the reason behind the curse. However, be that as it may, that information is not pertinent to the subject matter of this article.

Suffice it to say, the Jewish Hierarchy had a profound reason behind their implementation of the Rabbinic Curse, and the reasoning behind it, supports why certain Christians would deem Revelation 22:19, to be a curse upon anyone who preached apocrypha; apocrypha is not authorized church doctrine, and certain lessons within apocrypha contradict certain lessons within the New Testament.

Being that Jesus’ Resurrection proved to mankind He was truly the Son of God, and being His Father gave to Him the men whom He trained to be Apostles, and who are the Pillars of His Church, and being the Apostles preached only the doctrine their Master taught them to preach, I would truly fear the curse they gave in Lection 96:26:

And if any man take from, or add, to the words of this Gospel, or hide, as under a bushel, the light thereof, which is given by the Spirit through us, the twelve witnesses chosen of God, for the enlightenment of the world unto salvation: Let him be Anathema Maranatha, until the coming of Christ Jesu-Maria, our Saviour, with all the Holy Saints.

May God Bless you for investing your time to read and learn from this article. Amen
